Cabo Delgado, once renowned for its crystal-clear beaches, landscapes with palm trees and baobabs, and vibrant communities, faced a dramatic transformation in 2017 due to armed conflict. This upheaval has, to date, displaced over 700,000 people (IOM DTM 2024), leaving countless families without homes, food, or livelihoods.
Since 2021, the Non-Food Items (NFI) Common Pipeline, established and managed by IOM, has been a critical lifeline in northern Mozambique, facilitating rapid humanitarian responses to emergencies. This system of stockpiling, warehousing, and distributing supplies ensures swift aid delivery to affected communities during their most desperate times.
The stories below illustrate the resilience and determination of families who, supported by the Common Pipeline, strive to rebuild their lives amidst the ongoing crisis.
